Final Essay

  One thing that is good about South Central are the people. One thing that can improve in South Central is the environment and crime rate. I like living in south central because its the only thing I know. I really like going to school here because I know many people and I’m use to it. The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central,LA what it is today are Watts Riots,LA Riots,and Gang History.

  One event that I think made south central is the watts riots. The reason why I think its important is because most of the people that are living in south central where in the watts riots,and that what made them who they are today.The reason why I choosed it is because many people that lived in south central went through the same things many people in watts went through. I think they can relate to that in so many ways. That is the reason why I choosed watts riots.

  The second event that I think has made south central is LA riots. The reason why is because before the LA riots many people held back about how they felt for certain things for a long time. In the result became the LA riots.The reason why I choosed the LA riots is because many people that I know that live in south central don’t hold back on how they feel because of the LA riots that’s why I choosed the LA riots.

 The third event that I think made south central is the Gang History. The reason why I think it’s important is  because most gang members come from a origin that lays in a lack of education,poverty ,and racism. The reason why I choosed it is because many people in south central went through lack of education,poverty,and racism;and it still goes on today.Their is many more reason why gang history has an affect on south central but I can’t think of any right know. But that is the  reason why gang history is important.

 I think south central will change in many diffirent ways in the future. The reason I say that is because south central is starting to make a change right know. I think their won’t be any gangs in the next 50 years from know. Another thing is graduation rate will rise even more then it did in the last 3 years.that is what I think about South Central in the near future.

Elaine Brown

Elaine Brown was born on March 2,1943 in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania.She was a rank-and-file member, studying revolutionary literature, selling Black Panther Party newspapers, and cleaning guns, and doing many more tasks.One accomplishment she did was to be the founder of  Fields of Flowers, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to providing educational opportunities for impoverished African-American children. One thing that makes her a great leader is that even thought Black Panther stoped she still went on and kept helping many African-American people.

                                                                   Abortion

          Do you think abortion should be legal? In the article “Teenage Pregnancy-Pros and Cons of Abortion” by Mark Huttenlocker it talks about the positives and negatives of abortion. Abortion should be legal because they may have a health problem, the mother may have been sexually abused, and the unwanted child is at a higher risk to be abused or neglected by parents.

        The first  reason why abortion should be legal is because they may have a health problem. On page 2, paragraph 1 in the article it stated that, “she or the fetus has a health problem.” The evidence means that both of them may die during or before labor. This matters because the mother can live and adopt kids instead of taking both of their lives.

         The second reason why abortion should be legal is because the mother may have been sexually abused. On page 2, paragraph 1 in the article it stated that “she was a survivor of rape or incest.” The evidence means that she wasn’t ready to have a child. This matters because you shouldn’t be forced to have a child and the mother may neglect the child.

        The third reason is because the unwanted child is at a higher risk to be abused by parents. On page 2,paragraph 3 in the article it stated that “Is at a higher risk to be abused or neglected by parents,” The evidenced means that the child will come into the world knowing their parents didn’t want them because of the abuse and neglect. This matters because a child shouldn’t be neglected and abused because the parent wasn’t allowed to get an abortion.

        Some people might say that abortion should be illegal because abortion is killing another human being. I still think abortion should be legal because it’s not up to the state or law weather you wanna have a baby or not. I think it should be legal.

#15-Community Walk Reflection

1) If people see that the community isn’t taken care of then more crimes and deviance will happen.

2) Yes i did find many places that were uncared for. First, their was a empty lot had a lot of trash in it and the grass was high. Second,a house that was abandon the back yard was dirty and untaken care of. Third, a auto shop had tagging on it and trash around it.

3) Some homes where actually taken good care of. Their was a liquor store,bakery and auto repair shops.That its not that good of a community.
